I am a young artist living in Portland Oregon. I specialize in acrylics and inks with a focus on portraits.

What irks me about stock.

Sat Oct 3, 2009, 11:06 PM
What really irks me is that I am a traditional artist. I do not do photo manipulations or digital drawings. When I use stock there is a physical product. I have an easier time being able to look at a photograph to produce my paintings. I use stock photos to avoid copyright infringement. What really makes me mad is the wonderful stock you can find on DA that is not supposed to be used outside of DA.

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH MY PAINTING THEN? I cant put it on my website, I cant sell it. You've basically reduced my creative ability to just playing with photos.

Thanks

I just needed to vent. Does anyone else have this issue?

Oh wow, I just found out you're trying to get a degree in Art Therapy! I'm working on that too, I'm in my first year. (most studies take about 4 years 'round here :)) Good luck, you won't regret it =)
